The text of the Light Poem by Ester Naomi Perquin has been installed around one of the columns in front of North Station in Rotterdam. The design for this poem by Rotterdam’s former Poet Laureate was provided by the artist Geert Mul.
Words and sentences from the poem seem to disappear and reappear under the lighting, which constantly changes in colour. In this way the design fits in perfectly with the poem’s theme: light and dark. It also challenges passers-by to constantly rediscover the meaning of the poem for themselves.
Commissioned by Mothership, acting on behalf of the Rotterdam Library, Geert Mul furnished the design for the Light Poem. Mothership acted as advisor and producer for the project.
