The artwork MicroKosmos was recently completed at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences in Zwolle. Designed by Yasser Ballemans, it consists of nine sculptures made from recycled PET-G plastic, inspired by microorganisms from the IJssel River. The project was realized in close collaboration with students and faculty from Windesheim, with support from Hasselt University and Windesheim Zwolle’s Plastics Technology research group, among others.
MicroKosmos is a unique addition to the campus, where art, science, and sustainability converge. The project was driven by the desire to create a welcoming space for students on campus. Additionally, it was important to further connect the public campus with the people of Zwolle and to create an artwork that would also attract local residents.
