Mothership is pleased to report that the very first prototype for the Buoy-Trees for Jorge Bakker’s Floating Forest is in production, and will be launched early in 2014 in the Rijnhaven Urban Harbour on the Kop van Zuid. To date many have worked committedly toward realizing the Floating Forest; in that sense this project is a fine example of Crowd Sourcing from businesses, educational institutions and the government. Among them are Van Hall Larenstein, the TU Delft, Hogeschool Rotterdam, Ingenieursbureau Rotterdam, Rotterdam Department of Public Works, and others.
The prototype will be produced in the new Aqua Dock at the Rotterdam Dry Dock Co. facilities by the renowned steel construction firm Mercon, from Gorinchem, with the aid of a number of third parties.
Keep dates open during February/March, 2014, because that is when the launch of the prototype is expected!
Interested in learning more about who has contributed to the realization of this project to date, what still has to be done before February/March, and what comes after that? Contact us, because we are eager to tell you about it!
