The Zeebank is a striking example of how intensive cooperation can lead to a special project. Lola Landschapsarchitect designed the new city park in which the Zeebank was given such a prominent place: the green City Hall promenade.
Artist Jan van der Ploeg, for his part, brings the Zeebank to life with his beautiful colour combinations. Together, we have created the ideal place to sit, rest and enjoy a colourful environment. This Zeebank is the largest work that Jan van der Ploeg has ever undertaken.
Mothership is responsible for the concept development here. The Zeebank is the first large (art) object within the Zeegroene Loper; the vision that Mothership developed for the inner city of Almere. In the run-up to the opening of the Stadhuispromenade and the Floriade 2022, several projects will follow, including three artworks in the public space of and around Almere Central Station.
During the installation of the Zeebank, the first favourable reactions from Almere were immediately heard;
“So beautiful, I am in love….”.
“Speechless…rarely seen something so beautiful”.
“This work is really going to have an impact, can’t help it”.
