The mirroring ball was not the only way in which Mothership contributed to the opening of Rotterdam Central Station. We were also present during the official opening by the King! In collaboration with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Conny Janssen Danst, Codarts and Riverpark Films we produced a film by Alex Verhaest and Eline Wieland. This triptych with live music and dance was a visual spectacle.
In a contemporary way the King then performed the opening act. On the touch screen, which heralded the official opening moment, a short film played for the King. It showed three dancers, out of which a lady reached for the hand of the King. He made contact with her by placing his hand on the touch screen, after which the train station was officially opened.
Commissioned by the City of Rotterdam, N-Sign, ProRail and NS, Mothership acted as concept developer and producer.
